One World Trade Center is officially the tallest building in the Western hemisphere. A 408 foot spire tops the building, which now stretches to 1,776 feet, a testament to the strength and hope of all Americans and New Yorkers after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. The towering height (1,776 ft) is also a symbolic nod to the year America declared its independence. One World Trade Center is scheduled to open in 2014.

The well known documentary editor and producer Alex Meillier takes a stab at directing in this great story of love and revolution. For those of you not versed in Indonesian history for a 16 year period East Timor endured a civil war with their hero Xanana Gusmão behind bars. A man so well loved and connected that he continued a clandestine mission while imprisoned.
Journalists were filled with so much terror they buried their equipment in graves. Australian documentarian Kristy Sword went into the war stricken country to expose what was occurring in the country. While working to research and unravel what would soon be war, love and a better sense of peace Kristy not only uncovers a passion for a new democracy in the country but also a love for an imprisoned man who will soon become the country’s future Prime Minister.
Evoked, inspired and motivated by the justice of this film I was very pleased with the ending. It reminds me that “first world problems” are jaded by a distasteful erosion of what unfortunately are for many lifelong problems in other nations. With a new appreciation for life and true love this film exudes all forms of raw emotion.

Director Dave Carrol’s documentary on an entertainment pastime resurrected by a group of “strongmen” led to all-encompassing emotions triggering drama, laughter and tears. Following 43 year old Chris “Wonder” Scheock through his journey of a childhood dream leading to self-discovery and the supernatural strength of bending steel.
You cannot help but fall in love with Chris’s witty dry humor, his supporting characters his, back story and struggles of growth from a self-proclaimed “isolated man”. Not to mention there is some family drama mixed in that allows for one to understand and relate to a desire to feel support from your loved ones, but an unmet need in that area does not always lead to defeat.
Described as the “Opie Taylor of bending steel” a quarter inch goal holds him back from feeling accomplished in his rather unusual profession. He explains and embodies, “what a small man can do with a solid mind.” This film is an example that all you have to do is keep on keeping on. Your dreams can become a reality with the right thought process.
A fabulous film with qualities that you can take home with you leaves you with a desire to seek out the nearst “strongman” amusement near you. ”I found a hole to fit into without any gaps….there were things in my life that we’re problems, now those are just challenges,” Chris “Wonder” Scheock.
Need a pick me up to counteract your feelings of inadequacy? Then this is the film to light that fire of determination back up. I was personally inspired by Chris’s bravery and given a new ambition towards my own dreams. Encore! A must see.

Director Christina Voros and Producer James Franco did a splendid job of depicting a behind the scenes look into the life of Creative Director of the House of Gucci, Frida Giannini. This chronological and impressive cinematic view of Frida’s journey through her days and the fashion of her genius, coupled with a historic back log of Gucci as an iconic and international couture powerhouse giveway to a compelling and fascinating story line.
Frida’s personal experiences lead to the birthing of a colorful chapter for the Gucci brand and a fresh chapter in the designer’s life. What seems to be unconscious is the inspirational tone that is set in how the designer’s life experiences shape the wearable art and the storytelling of the brand. This fashionable dream is still pretentious in nature (rightfully so) and in fantasy of what we all know to be true of the industry. Yet Frida’s attitude towards what her life is and what it should be is balanced, not wacky or unsettled.
With the countenance of family and humbleness, which is often lacking from similar fashion documentaries, the viewer is compelled to relate without intimidation. Frida shares her upbringing and hardships she encountered along the way as well as major milestone career accomplishments. The story ties in passion for the fashion industry, grounded by roots of reality mixed with the enlightenment of the future.
By taking a life inventory Frida supports the case that how you speak to your surroundings and respond in your work should come with a refreshed fervor for life and your passions. A love for fashion, respect for history, for life and the appreciation that should come with living a full life partnered with this exclusive inside view into the alluring world of fashion makes for not only great film but solid advice for living as well.
